This relief sculpture by Bernhard Heiliger was extremely difficult to photograph preserving the effect of the layers of depth within the relatively flat surface.

It was done with an Ilko large format camera, 9x12 cm film, and a Messraster focusing device. With the 9x12cm film size and the precise focusing of the Messraster, there really is no more detailing to be gotten from that subject. The thin, narrow scratchings, all of them important and all different, on the surface of the work confirm the detail captured.
