She was in Berlin on some kind of whirlwind ambassadorial visit, when
I suddenly received a phone call from a Berlin official to drop
everything and get my studio ready for photographs. I did so, and
within the hour a whole entourage arrived with Rosay, who had
heard about me from friends of Nadia Boulanger, and had been able to squeeze exactly one hour into her
busy schedule to have me take her photos.
As marvelous as the face was, the person was magnificent. She was the
epitome of the great European and French women, whom I knew so well
from greats like Nadia Boulanger, Madeleine Milhaud, Marion Szekely-Freschl, and other great female artists.
Her manner was breath taking.
