Technically, this is really a mess of dark side characters and burnt-out center characters, especially the Virgin Mary. But at this image
size and with some tonal adjustments in Photoshop, it is no worse
than a lot of published theater photos and at least brings out the
devotional character of the Polish people of this time. They could
not readily express their religious beliefs publicly, but they sure did in their art, which was dangerously revolutionary for the Poland of that time. Under the guise of sweet artworks, they fueled and furthered the Polish revolutionary movement. No
wonder a great Pope came out of this nation at this time.
